Golf
Not one, but two exceptional golf courses.
The Heritage Golf and Country Club boasts two of the Yarra Valley’s most magnificent 18-hole golf courses.
The development of two distinctly different golf courses was a considered decision; to establish ‘the old’ links style course with ‘the new’ parkland style course – on one unique site. Both courses offer a unique but equally engaging experience for golfers of any skill level.
The first, designed by golfing icon, Jack Nicklaus highlights the immense experience of perhaps the world’s most influential golfer. The parkland style design of the St John was the first private ‘Signature’ golf course built in Australia. It was opened on Thursday, 30 November 2000.
With an Australian Slope Rating of 139 off the Gold tee and a Scratch Rating of 74, this championship par 72 course challenges at every turn. St John guarantees a highly rated golfing experience – whatever the weather conditions. St John is the only course in the Yarra Valley where players can be assured, they can play 12 months of the year and within 36 hours of a major rain event.
The second, the Henley was created by artisan designer, Tony Cashmore in consultation with Nicklaus Design. It is a truly beautiful links style course. A hidden treasure, The Henley is tranquil, rich in wildlife and bordered by a tapestry of roughs as picturesque as its flawless fairways.
The Heritage fleet of 60 electric golf carts are available for use along paved cart paths throughout the course.
Despite being a private golf course, opportunities exist for interstate and overseas golfers to play, and visitors are welcome when accompanied by a Member. More recently, Heritage has opened the course to social and corporate golfing groups.
Advice and lessons are available from Heritage PGA-accredited golf professional, Michael Dean who has a passion for working with players of all ages and abilities.
